The beginning of a new season

Saturday 7 May 2022 saw the start of the BNWFL Premier Division South season. Competing today were the Birmingham Lions, Hertfordshire Cheetahs, Kent Exiles and London Warriors. A big change for the Lions this year. General manager and long time quarterback Jo Kilby retired after last season and has been replaced by Maz Hughes who also plays on the offensive line. The Lions were originally slated to play in a small division of 9 a-side teams but unfortunately, that fell through. They were then slotted into the Premier South

I was there to photograph the two Birmingham lions games against the London Warriors and Kent Exiles.

Game 1 was against the Warriors which, as always, was a competitive match which finished Warriors 14 - 39 Lions.

Game 2 Birmingham Lions V Kent Exiles

The premier South is going to be a very competitive environment this year with Wembley Stallions being the team on a bye week today.

The Lions went to work on the Kent Exiles and won the encounter 48-12. A few images for this game are below.
